Emolgaskhan Calls for Family

Hey it's Tom again. Darby said she's gonna get her first post in sometime soon. But today I just wanted to discuss two cheap and useful cards that I have been using for a while in my decks. These cards are Emolga and Kangaskhan. I know what most are thinking. Kangaskhan is terrible and Emolga isn't half bad. Well I think it all depends who you are.

Emolga is mainly used for it's attack Call for Family. It is used for getting two Pokemon out on the bench with only using one energy to do so. This can set you up to start attacking your second turn. Also it has no retreat cost which is very nice. After getting two pokemon set up on the bench the next turn you can free retreat to your attacker that you'd have wanted in the first place. The down side to Emolga is it can get catchered up for a easy prize or get sniped in a couple turns. But most people run Mr. Mime with Emolga so sniping isn't to big of an issue and with the new rule change. This rule is catcher takes a coin flip to work so it is less likely for that to happen. Also when it does happen they only have one turn with Emolga out on the field since he has no retreat cost. Even with all that strategy involved I just think it's a cute Pokemon in general with a cool full art that is also pretty cheap. You can buy a full art for $3 dollars and regular card for $0.25 online. So for sure this card is a great buy for some of the newer players with a smaller budget.

Kangaskhan has the same Call for Family move to get the two Pokemon on your bench. The major downside of the card is the retreat cost of 2 energies. So when you play Kangaskhan you have to commit at least 2 energies to it. What I like about this card is once you get through the first turn with Call for Family for an amateur deck Comet Punch does a good deal of damage for two energy. You roll 4 dice and do 20 damage for the number of heads. On average you'd get 40 damage on them or even 60 or 80 at times. With this attack you can get a good jump in damage on their starting Pokemon while also setting up your bench. In competitive play at tournaments it probably would give up a prize card or two energies if you retreat so I probably wouldn't recommend playing it then. I just think between the 100 hp, Call for Family and a decent attack for the following turn, Kangaskhan is a pretty good cards for beginners. I got probably 4 of them from opening Plasma Blast packs so they are fairly common. You could also get them online for a quarter or two.

Overall I think Emolga will be a card that sees a lot of use in a couple top tier decks like Empoleon/Dusknoir
and is an easy addition to make to any beginners deck. Kangaskhan I think will see less play but with how easy it is to get and between what makes it a good card I recommend it for a new player.

First Legendary Treasures Packs

Hey! So me and Darby last night picked up our first packs of Legendary Treasures! Darby scored the regular Reshiram and to my surprise, moments later I pull a full art! (My first ever full art)
Even though I have no deck with a use for it, I was still excited! I've heard and seen from pack openings on YouTube that the Legendary Treasure packs are just loaded with EX and other great cards. I'm not sure if I just got lucky or these packs truly are loaded but I definitely look forward to opening more packs from the set.

Hello! I'm Tom and me and my sister Darby are both just recently getting into the Pokemon TCG game. We both love the game and wanted to take a shot at blogging. So here is our Amateur opinions on the game along with other fun Pokémon related things!
